The People of Townshend, Vermont is a documentary project I worked on from 1998 through 2003.
During that time I photographed some 100 people in that small town in southern Vermont a place I have known since 1933.
The photographs measure 20 x 20 inches and were made with a medium format camera.
Exhibitions have been in Townshend, and the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont; at Colby College in Maine; at the Monroe and Westport Public Libraries in Connecticut; and at Sterling College in Craftsbury, Vermont in conjunction with the Rural Heritage Institute.
Vermont Life published selections in the Summer 2003 issue coinciding with Townshend's 250th anniversary.
